An AS9100 CB, or Certification Body, is an organization that is accredited to audit and certify companies for compliance with the AS9100 standard. AS9100 is an internationally recognized quality management system (QMS) standard specifically designed for the aerospace industry. It builds upon the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard, adding additional criteria to address the unique needs and requirements of the aerospace sector.
An AS9100 Certification Body is responsible for assessing an organization’s adherence to the AS9100 standard, conducting audits, and issuing certification upon successful completion of the audit process. AS9100 CBs must be accredited by an International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) approved accreditation body, such as the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB) in the United States, to ensure they have the necessary competence and expertise to evaluate aerospace organizations.
